Jalapeno Hot Sauce
Are you the kind of person that puts hot sauce on everything? If yes, then this recipe is for you! This tangy combination of jalapeño peppers, lime juice, vinegar and allium vegetables, make the perfect dipping sauce, dressing, marinade and stir-fry sauce.
You can remove the seeds from the peppers to make it less spicy. You can also stir in vegan mayo for a lighter and creamier flavour and texture.
With its vibrant colour and piquant flavour profile, here’s a condiment you’ll want to have on hand at all times!
INGREDIENTS : –
- 10 jalapeño peppers, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1/2 cup coriander, chopped
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 cup water
INSTRUCTIONS : –
- Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the jalapeño, onion and garlic. Sauté until lightly browned and fragrant.
- Pour in the water and white vinegar and reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes while stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool.
- Transfer the jalapeño mixture to a blender and add the coriander, lime juice, salt, pepper and oregano. Blend to a smooth purée. (You can also leave it chunky if you prefer).
- Pour into a jar or a bottle and store in the refrigerator.
